Early June salmon fishing in Russia.
In early June, the situation began to improve. Water has become clean, the water level dropped. Many places at the Chavanga river have become available for catching. Kelts went to sea, Sea trout get hooked much rarer.. But intensified local trout, which actively attacked smolts.
better days came аor lovers of salmon fishing . Cold wind maintained a stable water temperature within 11-12 degrees. fresh salmon constantly run into the river from the sea. Even at the high water levels in the river estuarine areas we could observe the movement of fishes.
Activity salmon was quite high, although it was evident that the efficiency of large flies declined markedly. Salmon began to attack nymphs and wet flies.
In this situation fresh sea salmon was very aggressive. Therefore, it was possible to apply fishing from one position. On the river there are many places that all salmon like to stay or to go throu. Especially popular places locate below Cow pool and at the Cable pool. It's easy to choose the right position to get right fly presentation. This greatly facilitated the salmon fishing in the high water of the river.
With the decline in water level salmon changed their parking. Many deep pockets with calm water became less productive. Salmon began to prefer places on reaches with faster flow. It was here in the beginning of June were caught largest fresh fish - length 78-82 cm and a weight of 5.5 - 6.5 kilos.
I especially want to mention Pokosy Camp. As soon as the water level dropped, became available two most effective pool on this stretch of the river. They are located next to the campground and very comfortable for fishing. Bottom flat and shallow enough, the size and depth of the river pools allows to accumulate a lot of fish here. Pokosy Camp confirmed his reputation as one of the best places to catch salmon in the period of high water.
