Half of salmon season.
Part 1
Half of season of catching of a salmon remains behind us. As we also expected, our forecasts have appeared correct. The river condition, level and water temperature have appeared almost ideal for catching of a salmon. Rather warm winter favoured to preservation in the river of autumn salmon. The water level in the river was saved rather high till the end of June. After two dry seasons the river was comfortable for coming a fresh salmon running from the sea. Now I will give only the brief information on results of catching during first half of June. The largest fish had 94 sm at length, the best result - 45 salmons on one fisher. The best fly in the first weeks of June - Nothern Autumn, a variant of well known Cascade fly.
On the river Chavanga the salmon extends in regular intervals enough on all river. Here it is a lot of the places convenient for parking and for spawning. Therefore, unlike the river Strelna, beginning catching from the mouth of the river Chavanga we meet salmons of the most different age.
This year was successful enough for the river Chavanga. In the autumn a considerable quantity of a large salmon has risen in the river from the sea. These large fishes in the size from 80 to 90 sm have occupied the most convenient vacation spots. But there came such hours when these fishes became more active and attacked a flies the same as also fresher fishes in 3 - 3.5 kg. The problem consisted that these large salmons not so reacted to usual atractors flies, type of Shrimp or Willy Gun. During the last years I had a opinion about flies successful for catching of these fishes . These are flies in the size 8-12 with prevalence of black colour and accent from orange and silver details. For example, silver ribbing and an additive of a feather of a gold pheasant in a black wing. In some places, with a silent current, is better to use palmering from a golden feasant feather of bloody colour . The feather strengthened mobility of details of a fly in not too fast water. I will tell about presentation of a fly separately. Last years some double hande rod anglers use technics of active presentation of a fly. It is more useful during big spring water season and is hardly good for the middle of June when we need to change our presentation for non agressiv salmons.
